Supreme brick awards 2025

Silvertown Tunnel Portal Buildings by dRMM Architects

Also winner in Craftmanship and Brickwork Contractor's Choice categories

Silvertown Tunnel Portal building at Grenwich with Ketley double bullnose bricks and recessed headers

These two prominent brick landmarks at both ends of the new Silvertown Tunnel have been designed by dRMM architects as imposing gateway markers of strategic infrastructure importance.  The curved facade of the Greenwich Portal is made from Staffordshire Blue double bullnose engineering bricks laid in a flemish bond with recessed headers.  At the northern Silvertown portal, a beacon-like copper conical feature is supported by a brick plinth made from matching plain rectangular perforated bricks with recessed headers, also laid in a Flemish bond.  AVV solutions used a dark mortar, struck back, which helped to create a chain-link affect across the facades of the 2 buildings.   See Case Study>>
