76 Southbank is a Grade II‑listed Brutalist landmark transformed through AHMM’s heritage‑led, low‑carbon retrofit strategy. Retaining 80% of the structure saved 10,171 tonnes of CO₂e and achieved 365kgCO₂/m² embodied carbon . New brickwork uses 63,500 Ketley Solid Class A Staffordshire Blue Multi bricks, precisely matched to the original Etruria marl fabric for continuity and durability . House in the Surrey Hills is a sensitive extension of a 1920s country home, celebrated here for its crafted use of Ketley Staffordshire Brown Brindle bricks and quarry tiles. Sanchez Benton Architects shaped a series of stepped volumes that follow the hillside, connecting each room to the landscape. Clay bricks, creasing tiles and pavers unify the interior and exterior, bringing durability, texture and regional authenticity to this contemporary Wealden‑inspired home.
Red Cross Way shortlisted for Individual Housing
Reclaimed Ketley Staffordshire clay Quarry Tiles in this new housing project by Sanchez Benton Architects. This thoughtful redevelopment replaces a 1980s council house with a compact, low‑carbon design built almost entirely from reused materials. Its layered thresholds, lime‑mortar masonry and reused ground‑floor slab create privacy, thermal stability and a richly tactile character, showcasing how sustainable clay materials can elevate contemporary urban living.
